Earlier last year, I produced artwork on one of Roc Nation’s artists as part of Rok’s product development of the app to demonstrate its potential as a marketing tool for record companies and recording artists. There seems to have been some success in this area, as Rok’s parent company announced a deal on its website with Sony Music Entertainment.
A comic strip I drew features in a music app just released by Rok Records on itunes. I don’t really know much about the artist since the music world ended for me with the death of the Carpenters, er...however moving on, I’m sure younger folk might find out more about her on You Tube and the like – better still, buy the app!

A copy of my Wayne Rooney illustration was posted on the Business Boom website just before Christmas, along with a profile and a few details of upcoming work.
There may be some A3 size prints of the non-Xmas version still available for sale in Manchester at the Grumpy Shop just off Deansgate. Grumpy provide resource centres open to trainers, artists, carers, parents, playworkers, students, voluntary, non-voluntary groups, schools and anyone who works with or cares for children and young people. The shop sells a range of prints and cards by local artists and illustrators. After two and half years as a co-op member and director at OpenSpace, I've decided to relinquish my permanent desk space at the office in favour of hot-desking. Since I stepped down from co-running the business, I've been finding myself working more from home which means hot-desking has become the more affordable option - but it's good to know I can just call in and use a free desk whenever I get a bit stir crazy working from home! If you're a freelance creative, work for yourself in another industry sector, or are a small business looking for shared office space, please check out the OpenSpace website for further details. Here's a final look at my desk space (weep!) before I wipe out all traces of my residency. This is my home/office set up. Can't fit the damn drawing board anywhere though....
Really enjoyed the Doctor Who special, 'The Snowmen', over Christmas and the introduction of Clara Oswald as the new companion. I've been watching the series off and on since it restarted under the stewardship of Russell T Davies, but with Steven Moffat taking over as the show runner last year I've probably managed to miss fewer episodes than previously I've always been a fan of his writing since the days of Press Gang and then Coupling, and Sherlock has been pretty damn fine as well.
I'm thinking of doing some illustrations of Doctor Who and his new companion for my portfolio, so in preparation I've been sketching and doodling so I can get a feel for the characters. Here are some of my attempts! Btw, Happy New Year! |
