Career Illustrator Manchester
I am a freelance illustrator working primarily in the field of comics and children's books. Current projects awaiting publication include a children's book for Franklin Watts, a children's book series for Wayland Books, a graphic novel for Raintree, and various educational comic strips for BBC Bitesize and Benchmark Education.
I studied design communications at The North East Wales Institute where I specialised in illustration and graphic design. Since then, I have been plying my trade as an illustrator whilst doing occasional stints as a consultant in the health and social care sector where I remain a registered social worker (no lawsuits pending!).
Comic book related clients have included BBC Bitesize, 2000 AD/Rebellion, DC Comics, Vertigo Comics, Rok Comics, Strip Magazine UK and ILEX Press. Children's book publishers I've been commissioned by include: American Girl / Mattel, Benchmark Education, Franklin Watts, Hachette UK, McGraw-Hill, Raintree Publishing, Rising Stars, Usborne Books, Wayland Books. Editorial work includes New Internationalist magazine and DeAgostini publishing.
I currently work out of OpenSpace, a members' run co-operative office space located in Manchester, UK. OpenSpace run an affordable, attractive office where different members and tenants carry out a variety of creative and socially conscious work - but don't let that put you off from hiring me!
